WHO IS GENEVA?
Geneva Campus Ministry is an approved student organization that has been active at the University of Iowa since 1971. We are a community of students, faculty, and staff who seek to serve Jesus Christ on campus. Geneva is supported by the "Reformed" branch of Protestant Christianity, plus friends from many other denominations.
We believe that God is at work in us and through us for the renewed life of all people and creation through faith, hope, and love. Our vision is to help guide a Christian educational exploration at the University of Iowa, engaging learning and life with the good news of Jesus Christ.
As followers of Christ, we warmly welcome doubters, seekers, the curious, and those of other faiths (or none) to join us. Participate in any or all of our activities... We hope you'll have a great time, and make new friends as you do!
DR. THOMAS WOLTHUIS
DIRECTOR & CAMPUS PASTOR
"I am excited about working with students, faculty and administrators at the University of Iowa. I look forward to exploring with you how the Christian faith brings a meaningful context to all aspects of university life. I look forward to hearing your voices in discussions about the relevance of your worldview to life, scholarship, and service. Some of the most important questions in life are off-limits in the classroom, but they are welcomed at Geneva Campus Ministry. We look forward to getting to know you.”
Dr. Thomas Wolthuis is the Director of Geneva Campus Ministry. He has served as a pastor; a church planter; a college professor in theology, youth ministry and communications; a campus pastor; and a campus administrator. He has lived in Michigan, Texas, North Carolina, Iowa, Zambia, Canada, Lithuania, and Kansas. He has a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies from Duke University, and M.Div. and Th.M. from Calvin Theological Seminary, and a B.A. in Philosophy from Calvin College.
"I am thrilled to have been brought on board with Geneva Campus Ministry to help lead the CORE fellowship program and undergrad ministry. I was impacted by strong student ministry programs in high school and in college and believe in the vocational call of Geneva's mission. "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."
